Chiropractic, Sciatica and the Ryder Cup

As a Chiropractor, I watch events like the Ryder Cup differently that other people. So when I heard that the caddie for one of the players couldn’t do his job because of sciatica I knew what he was going through. I work with it every day.

The Chiropractic approach to treating sciatica involved pain control as well as correction. First we have to figure out what is the cause of the sciatica. We do a complete orthopedic, neurologic and chiropractic examination consisting of 66 different tests. This helps to rule out more serious causes of sciatica such as a disc herniation.

Chiropractors like to take x-rays of the spine to rule out more ominous causes of Sciatica. Tumors or fractures can mimic this type of pain and are not something that I treat. Once I am sure that the cause of the sciatica is musculoskelital then we start to treat.   If you want to see how quickly a person with sciatic can improve go to my website at www.southingtonchiropractor.com and check out Terry in the patient testimonial section.

Sciatica can be treated by Chiropractors in many ways.  Our office has special tables that when used may encourage the disc to return to its proper position.  We use ice and heat and other modalities to control pain as well as nutrition.  With patience, sciatic pain can fully resolve with Chiropractic care.
